Yu Oen has spent years developing and refining Optimal Portfolio’s investment discipline, using fundamental quantitative and qualitative analysis. His over 30 years of experience in corporate and institutional finance give him unique insight into both Wall Street and Main Street.

Yu began his career in Merrill Lynch’s investment banking unit, advising on corporate M&A transactions. He then transitioned to Private Equity specializing in corporate restructurings for the Lodestar Group. Yu went on to found Balitono, a successful consumer goods business, where he was CEO until it was sold in 2007. Yu then became the CFO of the Susquehanna Growth Equity portfolio company MMIT. While at MMIT, Yu helped lead the restructuring of its financial reporting and accounting units.
In 2010, Yu founded Optimal Portfolio with the vision of creating a boutique investment advisory firm that truly meets the needs of clients with impartial and devoted attention.
Yu has served as a Trustee and Co-chair of the Investment Committee for the Chapin School in Princeton, NJ. Yu is a father of two boys and resides with his wife in the Princeton area. He is an Aikido instructor at Princeton University and an avid Krav Maga practitioner.
Yu graduated summa cum laude from Boston University School of Management, Phi Beta Kappa, majoring in Finance.
